Santa Fe is known for its rich, earthy tones, unique culture and history, and architecture that is quintessential to the Southwest. Dive deep into the rustic landscape with a four-day immersive urban sketching workshop held at the Drury Plaza Hotel, focused on teaching you the skills of sketching on location. See what some participants had to say:

“The Santa Fe Workshop was far beyond my expectations. I gained confidence and learned something new every day. Thank you so much for this great art experience! “

“We were challenged every day in new ways, and were delighted to see our accomplishments under Marilee’s guidance. This workshop has been well thought out and meticulously executed.'“

“I liked the Drury Hotel with its central, convenient location, spacious rooms and nice, rooftop rest area. Having breakfast included and the happy hour light meal were a big plus.“

“Marilee’s positive attitude and energy were reflected in the group, and many of us came away with wonderful friendships. If you ever have an opportunity to attend a Marilee workshop, do not hesitate to grab a spot.”

Upcoming urban sketching workshops

  • $650 workshop fee*

Estimated hotel costs at Drury Plaza Hotel: $285/night

  • Since I regularly work with many of my workshop students, I’d like for this workshop to be an enjoyable experience split between experiencing the magic of Santa Fe, meeting and making friends with other sketchers and artists, and an educational art activity. Tuesday: Tour of Canyon Road Galleries in the morning. Particular spots will be photographed for afternoon art session. Picnic lunch provided along Santa Fe River park.

Wednesday: Provided transportation to an historic site or ranch for plein air painting activity. Picnic lunch provided and return to hotel in afternoon for finishing details on painting.

Thursday: Loose paint and sketch on site in the morning. Final lunch provided at Santa Fe Restaurant.
